Good morning Elliott…
I don’t see why (if there is space) you wouldn’t be able to North Carolina. I would hope that you have friends or family in the area as support (I am not meaning financially).
Please be cautious before making sudden life altering decisions. If you do decide that it is in your best interest to move, here is a list of NC shelters and other residential programs that accept single adults:
http://www.shelterlistings.org/locator/results_list.php?country=US&name=&category=&products=6&state=NC&city=&zip=&distance=10
You can click on each listing to view the additional details.
Thank you!

I work for a non-profit organization in Washington, D.C. Is it possible to get an MS Excel spreadsheet of all the available shelters in the U.S. from your database. I have access to the search function on your website. This option is wonderful for individual searches. However, I would like to have all of the info in one spreadsheet. Is this possible?

My sons father and I are not married but have been together for 15 years yet we have been having trouble finding a shelter that will put us together. Also we have no drug or alcohol issues and that has ruled us out of several shelters. We are not geographically tied to one place. Any ideas?

I am a 44 year old women living in Kansas city trying to make ends meet. I work part time and trying to land another job here soon. I’m in a middle of a divorce after being with him for 34 years total. He has been disabled for 22 years and has a presciption drug problem that I don’t want a part of. He has abused me as well as my son. I’m trying to keep my spirits up and move on but it is hard when I never had to work and now trying to find a job at my age. It is really hard! I’m in need of a place to stay that can get me back on my feet where I dont have to rely on anyone. If there is a sheltor that would help me do that I would surley appriciate it…

I left my spouse due to domestic violence, currently employed but have not worked since 12/08/09 due to severe medical condition. I’ve been recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, Restless Leg Syndrome, Degenerative Disc Disease and PTSD. I applied for Disability 01/2010. I have no income and/or support and too sick and do not want to return to my abuser. I will be homeless at the end of the month and I do not have any support. I am in constant pain from neck to ankles and the stress and fear makes the pain worse. I currently live in Maryland, but would like to relocate to a warmer and/or dry climate due to my illness. Please help me. I DO NOT WANT TO RETURN TO MY ABUSER, BUT WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS?

Hello and thank you for contacting Shelter Listings. I feel as if I recently I did a search for you but something in your email did not allow it to go through. At this point, I must apologize for the delay in speaking with you. If you like, leave me a private message with your phone number and I will contact you immediately. Otherwise, I will need the zip code of where you are trying to go. I know in Maryland, from the top of my head, has many shelters and housing programs that will be happy to help you. Also, you must think about travel costs. Usually and in many cases, shelters will not provide the transportation to get there. With this in mind, I hope to hear from you real soon…
You will always have a friend here,
Sincerelt,
Nanci
